Soul Khadke-ing...

With the onset of finishing college, comes the impending doom of limitlessly joblessness staying at home..and for a facebook-r that means atleast 5 hours of facebook. So i stumble upon khadke's note..something that claims to be soul searching in nature, so I think,"Why not!I'm jobless anyway!!", and set out for the same. The rules are that I'm supposed to list 10 things I love, hate and that don't bother me..Here goes nothing!

What goes around,comes around....

Prologue

An old tradition of ragging and freshers used to be a common happening, perhaps as common as a bengali, teaching other people bengali sayings or god forbid, the language itself! LOL
Anyhow with the onset of UG batch 2006 gone were those days when ragging, dress codes and freshers used to be a part of the curriculum. It was all gone with the complains and "whatever"s.
Along came lots of instances where 2k5 did its level best to put down 2k6 and 2k6 came up with some equally devilic fight backs. Some even fought back with senile poetry... :D

Act I,Scene I

1st hostel party of the year..Monsoon 2007..Friendship Day..its a party organised by the 2nd and 3rd years by collecting funds for the merry making of the fourth year. 2k5 took its first step of defiance and boycotted 2k6 from it and, we were very proud of ourselves.

Act I, Scene II

"Every action has an equal and opposite action".
UG 2k6 didn't put up with ragging, hell! we didn't throw them FRESHERS!
Take that...!

Act I, Scene III

Tables turn

2k5 has a vote and a settlement is achieved between two very hyper mobs on every minute issue and finally settled for "let them be our juniors!" and they got to participate in hostel nite '08.

Act II, Scene I

2k6 and 2k7 throw us a gala friendship day party! And, mind you a rather impressive one!

Act II, Scene 1.5

Heated discussion amidst all subgroups of 2k5 pertaining to whether we are getting a hostel night altogether!

Act II, Scene 1.75

Confirmation of Hostel Night discussion going on in the rooms of our juniors.
OLA!

Act II, Scene II

Hostel Night party dates are clashing with lots of people activities on various sub levels.

Act II, Scene III

A final suitable date was devised and the Hostel night fever had started spreading with the putting up of the notice of the Hostel Night or AKA the official hostel night poster!

Act II, Scene IV

The hostel night fever had started spreading with the hunting down of tailors, matching accessories, running to gawher ali etc. etc.

Act II, Scene V

D-Day !!!!
The endless queues at THE sari person(*&^%), people lining up for her to make them help out with their saris, then lining up next by me for getting their make up done; while Richa and Ishanie rant on about how we should get to the arena! And,oh! the occasional interruptions of our juniors in our rooms to rush to the arena, but alas! Ended up just standing there ;)

Act II, Scene VI

Finally, the beautiful ladies trotted into the arena; while my spirits chanted,
"LET THE GAMES BEGIN!"

Epilogue

After four years, as I gear up to leave this wretched hell of a place, with which sadly enough like all the people who've been here & fell in love with, I be spared no different fate!
Sadly enough, I couldn't get to know my juniors half as nicely I should have or shared better bonds with. As the celebration of Hostel Nite concluded and the hour approaches when my soul hums,"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go...", I wish I had shared more "photographs and still frames in your mind " with my juniors and more.....

3 Birthdays & A farewell!!!

How crazy do you think it is to come up with something as awesome as "3 birthdays & a farewell"???
Well, a bunch of junkies high on life, that's who think of it!!! LOL.
On a more serious note, a bunch of people who are just as crazy as me and who really get who I am!!!
The bunch of crazy people who would cut a Jack-o-Lantern instead of a cake, had watermelon and guavas for party food, lemon tea as beverage and a masquerade party as the theme of the party was "GO ORGANIC!!!", for the birthday gal who was and does take it on herself to make up for eco-friendliness that all of us lack in exercising in our daily lives. FYI she had once ran around with a cup near IC so that people don't use the plastic cups and SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT!!!! LOL.
Jokes apart!
You want to throw a party that's not just a party, but to stir your soul? Ask these bunch of folks not ordinary,at all!!!

Step 1: Send formal invites to the guests intended.
Step 2: Utilise all your otherwise free time, to decide the plan of what would entertain the guests concerned.
Step 3: Add finishing touches to make it look extremely suave .
Step 4: Shop for things that would be well suited by its owner!
Step 5: Make the movement so smooth that it would seem like they were doing that since birth.

To end it all, Graci amigos.!

Blue Allergies

So you think four years is a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally Loooooooong time to spend in a small place like Ranchi which when compared to your usual run from your house to your beloved school seems minuscule? A place where the autos(the only payable conveyance readily available) made more noise than the ill-fated oxygen cylinder which crippled down the Apollo 13 mid air along with its space crew! A place which had so many rules and restrictions that made Alcatraz seem like a cheap attempt at a joke! A place where the lackadaisical attitude of the administration made you feel like you have mistakenly stepped into a government office? A place where facilities elsewhere within an arm reach, seems like a big honour on being available altogether!

Alas! darn it..darn the human body for being so adaptable and liking even the subjection of such heinous evils and hell even learning to love the tiny little perks of the place.

Its just a big bag of "greenery"(:evil grin:) and hell..you get to love even that!

The beautiful way the O.C. road lights up with the fresh green leaves with the onset of spring, the discovery of the "This is where BITOTSAV used to be held 50 years ago" spots, breaking into the rocketry deptt. and clicking a gazillion pictures at the same, going to the river with a bed sheet, alu parathas ,oranges and spending a lazy winter morning with a friend reading novels and snacking every once in a while, falling asleep on a road, sleeping off on the newspaper in the library while solving the crossword, staying outs & everything. After all, being a frequent facebook-r, the concept that this huge flimsy bag of greenery really makes the pictures add a touch if its own magic!

The place definitely has its own charisma..be it in its very apparent love of good and variant music amidst a certain circle of people; taste of exquisite gourmet food; value for money ambience, food and my personal favourite..BIT discount! you get it everywhere, be it seventh heaven or capitol hill and even PALASH!..alas we don't get it in floats..lol.

Guess, its all part of the game..as ma always made us include in every essay during our childhood days," As all good things must come to an end, so did this...", and as I end this article, I cough up the courage to say for once and for all,

"Goodbye Blue Sky"...

The Vicious circle.!!!!

A very ordinary day..exam time..full pressure..full work load..!
One day just before the exam I could not find my calculator, so off I went to the next door room, and and borrowed a calculator from the girl next door...!
There I went off for the examination, a "BUUUUUURNN..!!!!" paper, and I dashed out of the hall leaving my borrowed calculator back at the hall itself.!
So I lost a calculator that didn't belong to me, so I went and apologized to her, and promised to replace her calculator, and I went into hiding, not because I didn't want to, but I just thought that I'd go home and buy it once the winter holidays started (cause then I'm not spending my pocket money over it). Off to home I went...
The day I was supposed to come back to Ranchi, I went out and bought a calculator, and kept it in the room I kept everything I was supposed to pack.
Some how, I managed to not pack her calculator and come along. So there I was scurrying away whenever I caught a glimpse of her. But soon the cat caught up with the rat, and she interrogated me about the status of her much claimed to be replaced calculator, and I couldn't run away from the scene faster.
One day, she came to my room and said she needed the calculator the very next day for her, me running a cash crunch, could not manage for a new calculator the very other day. So I went hunting for a calculator, I couldn't find anybody who didn't need a calculator, finally I got one from a junior a rather sucky one as a last minute alternative. Then I got my new neighbour's calculator and handed it off to her. Then ended up running away from two people and now my neighbour's on my tail, haunting my room, leaving behind notes on my door etc. etc.
So finally, when I got the money today I went off and bought a calculator, and gave the calculator to my old neighbour took the new neighbour's calculator and gave it to my old neighbour and ended the vicious circle and boy does it feel great to be off the hook!

"Stranger in a strange land..."

How often do we actually see a person helping another man, just like that. Just cause they are humans and of no other ulterior motive?
My guess is next to never, but when one finally gets lucky enough to be treated with such kindness, oh! what a great feeling it is! A sense of being pampered, and to top it off; by a stranger!

I myself know of quite a few cases where me or my friends or a mere acquaintance have been treated with such warmth that it has touched them indeed, for life.

I would like to give these strangers the honour that they deserve, by citing the instances.

I was going by the BIT bus to town on my own, the bus was pretty much packed with locals. I was sitting on a chair next to the alley way. The loafers seeing it as their moment of glory and triumph, were standing not only next to me, but putting their body weight and leaning on me. Being from Calcutta mere "huff" and "puff" is good enough to embarrass the "machos",and put them where they deserve to be. But, being in Jharkhand, the scenario had gone from bad to worse and being that kind of loud to help my situation, required quite some summoning of strength! By the time, I was preparing to shoo off the locals in the meanwhile the conductor came along to ask for the ticket fare and he was worse, cause I was no longer feeling the backside of random locals but a feel of full frontal of his family treasures. I was about to jump out of the bus at this particular moment, when the gentleman sitting next to me offered me the window seat and I couldn't have felt more safe, secure, delirious and jubilant. A few moments later, the stranger spoke to me, he was heralding from Calcutta, he was a non-Bengali yet he praised Calcutta and its chivalrous culture with such zeal and passion, that his words made me proud to be born of her rich soil.I never met him again, but every time I travel by the bus I do relive the series of events.

The next citation is to honour a stranger who helped my brother. My brother(MB) was at the New Delhi station waiting to pick up his friend. Unluckily enough, instead he got his pocket "picked"(Sorry, the pun was almost too tempting to be overlooked!). To top it off, his friends train got delayed by 8 hours(and, ah! it was back in the days when his phone had just got stolen.Yeah yeah i know a completely helpless situation.. just listen along will you? And, no I'm not making any of it up!!!). So there he was trapped in New Delhi station without any form of seeking help, for 8 hours! He was looming around, hopelessly; when he saw a boy a few years younger to him and he seemed approachable. So MB approached him with his heart pounding in his mouth, explained his scenario and asked him for 20 bucks, the guy said he'd seen my brother around and gave him a 50 buck note. MB asked him for his address, but he said its all right and he walked off.

The next citation is to honour my beloved DD..She was travelling in a bus. The conductor approached her for a ticket, she had a 500 rupee's note and the conductor was threatenning to throw her off the bus if she didn't hand him over change. She asked for change from the passengers to her left and to her right. DD already running late, was getting very flustered with the present scenario. Then, an elderly female pitying her situation, paid for her tickets and when DD(being DD), looked at her with wide, confused, baffled and bewildered eyes; the elderly woman just nodded at her with such warmth, that she felt indebted to her from that moment on to beyond eternity.

There are perhaps countless number of times when ONE(yes..it's hinted at u! ;) ) actually gets to experience this almost extinct feeling of being human, kindness of humans, and what is humanity all about!

And,boy oh! VOYY, Its wonderfulLy cherished by each One of us, lucky enough to be Victims for Experiencing such sinfUl pleasures.
